Pay it Forward. How often should you make your clients bed? I got a call from a buyer agent on Saturday morning. Her client wanted to see one of my listings. They gave us an hour and a half notice. I called my client. She was having a garage sale and packing up boxes. Needless to say, the timing was not good. I tried to get the agent to give us an additional hour before the showing. She couldn't, because they would be out of our area by then.
I dropped what I was doing, jumped in my car and got myself to my sellers house. I asked "What can I do?" The place was not wearing it's "show" face. I moved boxes, cleaned surfaces and tidied the kitchen. I checked all the rooms and turned on lights. Her teeneage daughter's bed was not made. Since the daughter was busy outside tending to the garage sale, I made the bed.
Luckily she had a friend helping her and we were able to get sweeping and vacuuming done. The 2 dogs and cat were relocated to the vehicle. The remaining garage sale tables were covered with tarps. My client, her daughter and friend were just leaving the driveway when the buyer agent showed up with her client.
The showing went well. We got an offer. Unfortunately, the buyer and seller could not come to terms on price. It was a busy nine hours. Somewhere in there I found time to meet with another client and sign a listing agreement.
