When friends go wrong!

A recent situation happened between two friends. Friend “A” needed a place to stay for the night due to domestic violence from her boyfriend, so being a great friend, friend “B” let her stay the night, which turned into a few days. After some stuff went missing friend B told friend A it was time to go. Friend A replied “you have to evict me to get me out”!

This problem is very complex and has many different ways to handle this situation.

The most hard core action, make a claim she’s a squatter. Remove her personal items, do not acknowledge she stayed more than one night at a time, change the locks and get a restraining order.

Avoid communicate with her; if she calls you calmly explain, if you see her near the property you will call the police. Once again don’t pick up any more calls from her. The law should be on your side; I will warn taking this stance you have to bend a few details and is a difficult but quickest way.

If you are about to be evicted due to your “so called” friend who really made your life difficult out  due to jeopardizing you being evicted!

Wow it never ceases to amaze me how others "thought even as friends" can turn on you in a second. On a non related note I saw something along this line but possibly more disturbing on the news last night. A man broke into a home that was foreclosed and vacant. He has no water utilities or right to be there but filed a piece of paper that stated he "claimed the abandoned property and now the sheriff cant move him out and its up to the actual owner or in this case lender to go through the process to evict a squatter????

We need some laws to change quickly!
