We had been using Docusign electronic signatures for a couple of years and were amazed at the convenience it provided for both our clients and ourselves. The ability to review and securely sign contracts on-line cut our response time significantly, and saved many miles of wear and tear and gallons of gasoline. Our clients found the system easy to use and were impressed that we could make a resource like that available. We were convinced that DocuSign was the best way to get the job done.
And then we ran into a situation that only DocuSign could handle. Our clients were a couple with a truly global lifestyle. Mrs. Buyer lived most of the time in Cairo, Egypt and Mr. Buyer divided his time between there and Singapore and Hong Kong. They were buying a home here in Fort Collins, CO for two purposes: first, as a place for their daughter while she attended Colorado State University; and second, as a stateside retreat and eventually a home for themselves when they retired.
During a brief trip to Fort Collins, Mrs. Buyer chose a lovely re-modeled home in the Old Town neighborhood, and she was able, using phone conversations, e-mail and video, to satisfy Mr. Buyer, who was in Hong Kong, that this was the right home. Our offer to purchase, and the ensuing negotiations and counter proposals, were all easily accomplished with the help of DocuSign - a process that would otherwise have been lengthy and laborious. We were able to get the home under contract quickly.
Further, during the inspection process, several complicated issues arose, requiring several contract amendments. Mr. Buyer was now in Singapore, but possibly on his way to Hong Kong. It didn't matter - he had internet access everywhere, and using DocuSign, he easily accessed and signed the necessary documents.
Because of Mr. Buyer's schedule, this transaction would have been a logistical nightmare if not for Docusign. Instead, it was easy and transparent. Mr. & Mrs. Buyer were comfortable with the process and happy with their Realtors. And their Realtors were very happy that they had chosen to sign up for DocuSign.
