Home Staging Tip: Target The Second Bedroom
The Fairfield County, CT, condo that Nestings recently Staged has two bedrooms, each with a large walk-in closet. This complex is not age-restricted, but does attract folks who are downsizing as well as young newly-weds. Many residents appear to be single (perhaps divorced?) women with a teen-aged child. So when it came to Staging the second bedroom in this unit, we kept this demographic in mind.
Before: Twin antique beds fit nicely, but it's a little crowded. The "Laura Ashley" look had to go.
The padded valance, miniblinds, and floor-to-ceiling wall-mounted mirror all had to go...as well as the pink carpet.
New paint, carpet, and re-oriented bed that faces you as you enter the room. One antique bed and small dresser were brought back in. Nestings added fun bedding, artwork, lighting, fur pillows, and accessories to appeal to a teen or visiting college student.
There was no need for a home office, because there already was one. It could have been a more generic guest bedroom, but we wanted a youthful feel. The green/blue/brown color scheme coordinates with the adjacent bath.
