What makes Needham stands out are its schools, the ease of commuting - Jump on Route 128/95 from 1 of the 3 exits, 10 minutes from the Mass Turnpike, commuter rail with 4 trains stops, and a Mass Transit Bus. It is just a quick rip to Boston and Logan Airport. It is a pretty community in appearance. The library is brand new which is just across the street from the High School that has also just undergone a beautiful expansion. There are 5 elementary schools and one middle school.
We have our own hospital Beth Israel Deaconess, formerly Glover Memorial Hospital and the plus about our hospital is that the same staff that is in the Boston hospital work at the Needham campus.
Needham has Rosemary Pool that all the residents can take advantage of for a fee, of course. There is an indoor pool which is run by the Charles River YMCA. The Needham Pool & Racquet Club is another option for those that active and avid tennis players. There are other tennis courts in town as well. We have our own Needham Golf Course and not far from Needham there are several golf courses to choose from: Charles River Country Club in Newton Centre, Wellesley Country Club and Weston has a public course along with 2 others.
I truly believe that we have a large percentage of the town residents that volunteer either through organizations, i.e. Rotary, Exchange, the Women's Club and the Lions and individuals along with groups that pitch in and help where it is needed.
The Town of Needham is located in the eastern part of Norfolk County, Massachusetts, bordered by Wellesley, Newton, West Roxbury section of Boston, Dedham, Westwood and Dover on. Needham is 10 miles southwest of Boston, 29 miles east of Worcester, and about 208 miles from New York City. Total Area is 13 square miles. The town is close to many large malls with a half hour of town, ie., Burlington, South Shore mall, Natick mall, Shoppers World - Framingham, Dedham Mall , & Chestnut Hill (Newton)- The Atrium and the two other malls, The next town, Wellesley has just wonderful shops and it is really close. We are a half hour from Foxboro Stadium where the Patriots play football and there is a huge mall going in in that town too.
The beautiful Charles River is like a necklace around Needham. Some people like to fish along the Charles. It just one of the things that make the town so pretty. There is so much history connected to the Charles River. I will share that at another time.
