The end of hot water heaters

By

My broker has quite a few listings in St. Bernard parish in Louisiana.  This area was devastated by Katrina.  You would never know it by the houses that have been redone.  I believe the only original pieces are the slab and the frame.  All new wall, granite countertops, refridgerators, you name it.  The one new appliance that caught my attention was the hot water heater.  Or should I say lack of one.  Seems these houses have the tankless hot water heaters installed.  They heat the water only when you turn on hot water.  You will never run out of water.  Best of all they save you a lot of money on your utility bills.  I am considering installing one in my home.

Happy to read there's progress in New Orleans!

I represented a buyer on a new townhome. What sold the client was the tankless water heater! Who knew. I hear the energy efficiency is amazing.

Thanks for posting!

My parents just bought one to install in their vacation home. It seems like a great concept, especially for second homes.

We use a tankless hot water heater as well.  Works great! And takes up very little space.

John, I was previewing homes today and one I saw had a tankless water heater. The owner was going on and on about it. She had also said that several others on the street had upgraded to one. They are becoming more and more popular.

The start up cost is a little more, or at least equal to a high effiency hot water heater and I agree they are the PERFECT answer for hot water.

Word of warning on the tankless hot water, they are awesome as long as your electric service to your home is sufficient and up to date.  In a previous life I sold manufactured homes and this was a great up grade. Then my client had nothing but blown fuses and issues, until the service was upgraded from the power company.  Other than that they are as efficient as gas and save space and are just amazing. an hour shower are you kidding me

Does anyone know how much energy they save? I know this is an open-ended question.

John-That's what I love about Active Rain. I learn something new everyday. Truthfully I didn't know these existed.  I would love to get one for our house as well.
