This is “Miss Maude”. My husband and I rescued her 10 years ago from a crowded, hot shelter in Savannah, GA. She’s been an incredible companion, and I just wanted to share this photo I took of her while we were hiking together over the weekend. She is a true Southern Lady, but look at her totally rocking the mountains of Colorado and lovin’ it!
Great picture. We have a similar one of a now passed Red Heeler - he is sitting in the snow at the base of Mt Hood and is one of the ways I always remember him.

Rescue dogs are great. We have 3 dogs, one rescue (she can get very competitive with other dogs), one "almost" rescue who was on his way TO the pound (he's so loving), and a yellow lab we got as a pup and who hasn't had a bad day in her life (she's the most grounded). But they make a great pack of friends for us and each other.
Mel, what a great memory to have. Mt. Hood is beautiful and I'm sure your Red Heeler was in pure bliss hiking there.
Hella- What a great 'pack' you have! We also have one other 12 year old black lab mix who we rescued from a shelter in Utah. Love them both!
What an awesome shot! It's great to live so close to nature that you're able to take weekend getaways.
