I spent a few minutes goofing off on Piknik. I have been trying to make some changes to some of the pictures that I have been using in my blogs. It amazing just how easy it is to use this software, and the thing that I love is that it gives you control over what you are doing. For example on this black and white photo, I controlled the level of color, being able to stop it prior to going completely into a gray scale:
You can still see a trace of green in the plats and red stripes on the hill
This is the original photo that I started with
The same effect can be done in the Sepia tones as well. Again, I love that I control the color saturation.
Again I was able to maintain green tones in the trees and the sky is more gray than sepia.
This is my original.
I could have played with this for hours, it is really easy to do. From the create tab in Piknik, you choose effects, then on the left side you have choices of what you wish to do with your photo. There is then a sliding scale that allows you to choose how much effect you wish to create.
I even found a fun effect to create surreal looking pictures this one is called the Boost effect:
Looks like something from Mars!
This is the original of the "Boost" picture
If I had the time, I could probably spend hours working with the effects that are available in Piknik. When you're looking for a creative photo, you can create your own!
