I've stood backstage looking over a room packed with celebrities, the spotlights spilling over the stage, the sets sparkling and sizzling with life - the fans screaming from their seats, cheering and dancing... these memories always make me smile. But in a place where real-life is powered to the Nth degree, fame is a fickle, unforgiving beast.

The Entertainment world is truly one of my passions and as Assistant Writer to several of Telemundo's Latin Billboard Awards, I've got stories to spare, including a bitter-sweet tale of a celebrity (who shall remain nameless) that was ready to crash and burn right before our eyes (and no it's not Christina from the picture above). It wasn't that they didn't have talent, they had plenty and it wasn't that they weren't selling, oh they were selling... but they had turned into a bonafide DIVA, complete with crazy personal requests, rehearsals that costs tens of thousands in overtime and the utter mistreatment of most of our crew.

Whether it's Music, Cinema or even Real Estate, ours is a business of People. And if you start to burn your bridges, as soon as the records stop selling, or the sellers stop calling, you'll find yourself suddenly alone.

Just tonight I ran into several Real Estate Divas (which is probably the reason I'm blogging about it right now): you know the type, their listings are always in the millions, and they've got Mick Jagger on speed dial. And when you try to send them a courteous email or call them up for a question or two, you get a nasty two-word reply or they simply hiss: "I don't have time for this" and hang up without warning.

I'm sorry, but rude is rude. Period. And it doesn't matter who you are, or who you think you are.

Hell, I've seen artists whose records weren't selling as hot as they once were, and yet, they still got invited back to the Billboards, to the Grammys, to a huge number of other shows, simply because they were great People. And you know why?

Because Directors and Executive Producers are People too and courtesy goes a long way in any business.

Anyway, I think I've gotten the Diva tantrum out of my system now. So I'll just have my people call your people... and they'll do lunch. ;)

Rude is rude and there is no excuse for it. The agent snubbed today may be the agent with the qualified cash buyer for that agent's listing tomorrow. Best to not burn any bridges.

I dont think we have too many if any Divas in our areas, and its sort of sad we have Real Estate Divas anywhere.

I totally agree Anne!

Oh and Chuck, I'm in Miami and with South Beach being one of the hottest markets in the country... well, I would say it could be the Real Estate Diva capital, perhaps second only to Beverly Hills. LOL :)
