Town of Babylon Ready For Same-Sex Marriages!
Governor Cuomo signed the Marriage Equality Act on June 24th, 2011 and will not go into effect until Sunday, July 24th, 2011.
According to the Babylon Town Clerk, Carol Quirk, she says they are ready to issue the marriage licenses on Monday, July 25, 2011. There is a 24-Hour waiting period that New York State requires so do not expect to get married on Monday.
The forms and booklet they hand out are all up to date and so is their computer system. They are ready to go!
So far, the Babylon Town Clerk's office has received around 60 inquiries about marriage licenses for same-sex couples.
