Recently, a new customer of mine, told me about some previous cleaning she had done from another company. She said she chose the company because they were IICRC certified, or so she thought. My client was very unhappy with the work that this other company did and decided to do a little detective work. To make a long story short, she went onto the IICRC's website and enterd this company's name only to find out that they lied. I always recommend to my clients doing the research before they ever pick up the phone to schedule an appointment. The IICRC stands for the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification. They provide the necessary educational programs and standards for the cleaning, inspection, and disaster restoration industries. On their website, they have very clear and concise explanations about the benefits to consumers when they hire an IICRC certified firm. A great page to check out is the Frequently Asked Questions. As someone in the cleaning and restoration industry as-well-as a consumer, I always want to hire honest and experienced companies. The best way to be an informed consumer is to do a little leg-work before you hire anyone. Check out websites and get recommendations.
