Why Are Designations Important?

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential Snyder

Have you ever looked at a Realtor's business card and wondered what language ABR, GRI, CRS, etc. means?  First of all let me assure you that it's a good thing!  Secondly, and more importantly, it indicates that the Realtor handing you that card is in it for the long-haul.  It generally means that the Agent is a full-time professional Realtor.  Why else would they spend hours in the classroom if they weren't going to apply that knowledge round-the-clock?  Think about it, would you want to go to a doctor who only practiced their trade part time?  I don't think so.

All of those initials represent countless hours in the classroom and they represent the sincerity the Realtor has to serve you better.  Did you know that you can get a Real-Estate License by taking a 40 hour class (5 days, 8 hours) and then receiving as low as 70% on the examination?  Frightening, isn't it?

Education is for a lifetime.   In this ever-changing world and market place, I feel an obligation to stay abreast with knowledge and latest technology so that I can serve you better.  What I do have in common with those 40-hour agents is that I took an oath to work for the best interest of the client.  How can I do this if I don't stay current?

  • Realtor - 40 hours, exam (70% minimum)
  • ABR - Accredited Buyer Representative - 40 hours, textbook, exam (80% minimum)
  • GRI - Graduate Realtor Institute - three 40 hour classes, 3 exams (minimum 80% on each), textbook
  • Relocation - 3 modules (10 hours each), 3 exams (minimum 80%)
  • eCertified - 1 module, exam (minimum 80%)
  • Associate Broker - 3 years experience, GRI, exam (minimum 90%)

Who do you want to work in your best interest???
