Luau - Wisconsin Style.....Really, It Wasn't Bad!

Ha, I had to add the 'it wasn't bad' for my Wisconsin AR friends, especially Laura Baker.

My husband and I left the great state of MN last weekend to attend a "Destination Wedding" in Shawano, WI.

Yup....not Jamaica or Cancun but Shawano, WI.

We were invited to attend the grooms dinner (A Luau) the evening before the wedding since we have known the bride since she was 3 years old.

So how does a Luau in a small town in Wisconsin look?

Well, first you need a beach of course - Check. (On beautiful Lake Shawano).

Second most important thing a Tiki Bar - Check.

Third, a second Tiki Bar for Margaritas - Check.

Fourth, a bride and her bridesmaids - Check. (Bride is in Pink).

A bunch of people - Check.

A Tent for the Band and the Pig - Check.

A Woody Wagon Beach Car with a Surfboard on Top - Check.

(Wisconsin lakes have a HUGE surf, HUGE - LOL).

A Valuable Woody Chris Craft Boat - Check.

So that's it. That is a Luau in Wisconsin. See, I told you it wasn't bad! It was wonderful!!

Oh, and that car.....check in on my next post. You aren't going to believe the story about that car!

Very nice photos of the Wisconsin Luau Shar - it's fun to see it in the photos. It looked like a great time and they hosted it well. By the way, nice tease with the car!

Ha....it was kind of a tease Debb. I was going to include it in this post but it would have gotten too long.

I know Barbara, I was shocked too! They must have had to check them at the door for the event. LOL But we were definitely in Packer country.

It was a lot of fun Kathy and it was a beautiful evening.

The olives in my Dirty Martini came on an umbrella pick Roger. You would have loved it!

Just put together for this one night Juli at the home of the parents of the groom.

Shar, what a fun and unusual wedding! Most the weddings I go to here are about being dressed up, and eating so much food it runs $150 a head at the place! A bit excess....I'd rather a Luau!

I destroyed those pictures Tammy, especially the ones of me in a hula skirt!! LOL You are too funny.

The wedding was perfect Janice. The lovely couple are in Jamaica as I type.

Ellen, this was just the grooms dinner but the wedding while more formal was still very low key. Perfect.

This really was a cool weekend Valerie.

Whitewater rafting?? In Shawano? Is that after you have had some beers and you have your cheesehead on Laura? First it is Hawaii with the Luau and now it is Colorado with whitewater rafting....cool. LOL

Hi Shar--I just zipped past Shawano last week en route to Door County. I would say the only thing their luau was missing were a few palm trees. I wonder how kahlua pig tastes in Wisconsin . . . .
