Scam Alert....You failed to Show for Jury Duty!

This is the latest scam taking place in the Bristol Tn Sullivan County area.

You receive a phone call (unknown number) from a man who supposedly works for the jury duty division of Sullivan (or your local circuit court clerk) County telling you that you did not respond to a jury summons and that the local constable would be paying you a visit at your home or place of business! He proceeds to tell you that if you answer some questions, he could prevent the constable from paying you a visit at your home.

He will begin to update your mailing address, date of birth, and even asks whether your job would interfere with you serving on a high profile case.  The concern is if your absence away from your job for an extended period of time would be allowable with your employer or not.

After about 15 minutes and convincing you that you will now receive a new summons and that you MUST respond this time or the constable WILL show up and bring you to the court house, he asks for your mothers maiden name or her date of birth.  Then to top it all off, he asks for your social security number!

He tries to wear you down until the very end before he asks for your social.....

The main thing to remember in any phone call from anybody is to never give out your Social Security Number or any information you feel uncomfortable giving!

If you think any phone call is questionable, tell them you need to get their name and number and call them back. Or probably the best thing to do is just HANG UP!
