I don't want to get into the specifics of the Social Security program. Anyone can Google the subject and educate themselves. The system of putting money away so that it is available works since Adam told Eve; put this away for later. It is when mankind starts playing with something that is not broken and then breaks it is when it all starts

ALL I HAVE IS SOCIAL SECURITY...SAYS JOHN AND JANE DOE

Out of the over 300 million people who live in this country, a huge portion of them receive some sort of assistance. The Social Security check is all many seniors have to make their version of food, shelter and clothing work. For some, it doesn't even work that well either

IT IS NOT LIVING HIGH ON THE HOG, BUT IT IS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE'S SURVIVAL

People have been known to eat dog food to survive from check to check. I personally managed hundreds of rental properties in the disadvantaged areas where tins of Crisco Oil were used as spread on over priced white bread. In places in the south and in rural areas all over the country, people have to hunt and fish to add to their monthly existence.

ITS IN PLACE AND PEOPLE DEPEND ON IT

I wouldn't even consider playing with a system that 2 or 3 generations has gotten used to living with and off of. I have trouble imagining the United States of America as a large poverty stricken place. Yet, that is what would happen should you disturb the current system

SENDING MONEY OUT OF THIS COUNTRY?

I do have lots of trouble when I hear about multi-billions going out of this country for aid to other countries when we are hurting. Now if our government and Congress wants to help other countries while it is helping Americans first, I am okay with that. But if things get tight, the first to go is not and should not be the AMERICAN PEOPLE.

KISS OF DEATH...POLITICALLY

I am even amazed of any politician that takes this on. My thoughts are that there some people in government that have made lots of money and perhaps are thinking of retiring who will be the ones to try to get something like this passed before they go as a favor to someone. Anyone else would be crucified before they got started and would have their political legs shopped off

LIVE ON TV TONIGHT...ELDERLY COUPLE THROWN IN THE STREET

Start cutting Social Security benefits so that the elderly poor in this country cant pay rent or feed themselves and have to be evicted or sleep in the streets and you will have a riot on your hands perhaps even a National one. I don't want to see any-ones mom or dad being treated cruelly in this country. Yet that is what will happen if Social Security is disturbed

ARE THERE ANY BUSINESS GRADUATES IN CONGRESS..?

Manage your own affairs. What in the world is wrong with Congress and all the rest of the decision makers any way? We all know the basic 101 principals of business, customer service, profit and loss, borrowing, risk management, return on investment and the like yet the government gets to do whatever it wants WIN, LOSE OR DRAW.

GOT A TASTE OF HOW CONGRESS THINKS

The most recent behavior of the governments acts of omission and commission in regards to the current state of the economy and the banking industry is appalling and criminal. The same people want to tweak Social Security Systems. Does this make any sense to you?
