Cajun and mushrooms

A group of Cajun friends from the New Ibeira wanted to get together on a regular basis, socialize, and play games.

The Boudreauxs was to prepare the meal. When it came time for Boudreaux and Maree to be the hosts - Maree wanted to outdo all the others. 


So Maris decided to have mushroom-smothered steak. But, mushrooms were very expensive. 

She then told her husband, Boudreaux, who said "Mais, no mushrooms. Dey are too high." 

Boo said, "Why don't you go down in duh pasture and pick some of dose wile mushrooms?

Dere are plenty in duh pasture."

She said, "No, some wild mushrooms are poison!" 

Boudreaux said, "Mais, Ah see varmints eating dem and dey're OK. "

So Maree decided to give it a try. She picked a bunch, washed, sliced, and diced them for her smothered steak. Then she went out on the back porch and gave Ol' Phydeaux (the yard dog) a

double handful. Ol' Phydeaux ate every bite. 

All morning long, Janet watched Ol' Phydeaux and the wild mushrooms didn't seem to affect him, so she decided to use them.

That night, the meal was a great success, and the Boudreauxs even hired a helper lady, 80 yr old Miz Thibodeaux, from town to help her serve. She had on a white apron and a fancy little cap on her head. 


After everyone had finished, they relaxed, socialized, and played Booraye dominoes.

About then, Miz Thibodeaux, came in and whispered in Maree's ear.

She said, "Miz Boudreaux, Ol' Phydeaux just done died."

Maree went into hysterics! After she finally calmed down, she called doctor Guidry and told him what had happened. 

Doctor Guidry said, "Dat's bad, but Ah tink we can take care of dat.  Ah will call for an ambulance and Ah will be there as quick as possible. We'll give everyone enemas and we will pump out

everyone's stomach.  Everything will be fine. Just keep them calm." 

Soon they could hear the siren as the ambulance was coming down the road. The EMTs & the doctor had their suitcases, syringes, and a stomach pump. One by one, they took each person into the bathroom, gave them an enema and pumped out their stomach.

After the last one was finished, Doctor Guidry came out and said, "Ah tink everything will be fine now, and he left." 

About this time, all the guests were all looking pretty weak sitting around the living room when old Miz Thibodeaux

came in to serve coffee...and said under her breadth..."You know dat fellow dat ran ova' Ol' Phydeaux never even stopped”.
