The Hobby Gallery, Wolcott CT,  - - - Where Imaginations Can Run Wild

I recently had a toy repair to do on one of our grandson's favorite trucks, a broken wheel. I tried to fix it, but it was evident that a new wheel would be needed. I thought it was going to need to be thrown out, when he wasn't around, and then the light went on.

I had not been to the Hobby Gallery in some time, but thought that just maybe I could get lucky and be able to find a replacement wheel that would be used on an RC toy.

The store front display was like a scene right out of a Christmas Catalog. A model train set with all manner of curves, elevation changes, homes, a simulated waterfront, and a running train.

Protected from curious fingers by a plexiglass barrier, it was amazing to just watch the train do it's thing.

As I approached the owner, Steve Magnani, and explained my dilemma, he casually walked over to a display set up with all manner of parts that kids would use for their pine-box cars.

I found the perfect set of wheels to repair the truck.

I found a lot more as well.

Shelves loaded with models of all styles, cars, planes, boats, military models. Memories of my childhood came back to hours spent with the instructions, which were never right, putting those models together, painting them, placing the decals and then mounting them to be proudly displayed. We had to entertain ourselves this way as it was before computers.

Ed this is a great localism post  with good advertisement for the Hobby Gallery.  It good to know that they are still places where you and get a toy repair instead of throwing it out. Im sure  that your grandson was very happy.

Hi Ed!  It is sad to see some of these wonderful shops being bitten by the economy and the big box stores.  What a wonderful localism post and I'm sure the owners of the Hobby Gallery in Wolcott CT love this marketing you've done for them!  Suggested!

Ken, as I walked around this store, I felt like a kid just before Christmas, the ones I remember from my childhood

Hannah, I don't know of any others like this

Geroge, sounds like a road trip for me. The train display was special here.

Michele, whenever he breaks a toy, he turns to his mother and tells here to give it to Grandpa Ed

Ginny, I remember hours trying to complete those model sets and then displaying them proudly.

Debe, the big box stores just don't have the same character as this type of store. But then today's kids ar more interested in what types of video games are available. Thnks for the thought.

Ed, this is truly a wonderful localism post. I love doing these and intermixing them with real estate posts, SEO posts, fun offbeat posts and Members Only posts. That's how I got your comment today, and I am most appreciative!
