The Hobby Gallery, Wolcott CT, - - - Where Imaginations Can Run Wild
I recently had a toy repair to do on one of our grandson's favorite trucks, a broken wheel. I tried to fix it, but it was evident that a new wheel would be needed. I thought it was going to need to be thrown out, when he wasn't around, and then the light went on.
I had not been to the Hobby Gallery in some time, but thought that just maybe I could get lucky and be able to find a replacement wheel that would be used on an RC toy.
The store front display was like a scene right out of a Christmas Catalog. A model train set with all manner of curves, elevation changes, homes, a simulated waterfront, and a running train.
Protected from curious fingers by a plexiglass barrier, it was amazing to just watch the train do it's thing.
As I approached the owner, Steve Magnani, and explained my dilemma, he casually walked over to a display set up with all manner of parts that kids would use for their pine-box cars.
I found the perfect set of wheels to repair the truck.
I found a lot more as well.
Shelves loaded with models of all styles, cars, planes, boats, military models. Memories of my childhood came back to hours spent with the instructions, which were never right, putting those models together, painting them, placing the decals and then mounting them to be proudly displayed. We had to entertain ourselves this way as it was before computers.
