I tend not to use my horn, but sometimes I'm tempted...

The local tendency is to use the loudest blast of horns when other drivers are perceived to be slow in moving (by Milli-seconds even) at light controlled intersections.

I am more affable, believing that sudden increases in my blood pressure are mostly avoidable by allowing others to exist in peace as well.

Today, I was fourth car back from the intersection, waiting to turn left onto a major road. With the green arrow, cars one and two rounded the corner but number three failed to move.

When the driver noted her green invitation, she put her novel onto the passenger seat and moved up just in time to get the red light ~ whereupon she picked up her novel again.

(Insert warning blast of my horn into the story - with novel laid down again.)

With the next arrow, we completed our turns, she taking the left lane and me the middle lane at the next lights.

(You might be ahead of me.)

She picked up the novel again. (Sorry I didn't get its name, but it must be a good one!)

I feel your pain!  I just had someone on his cell talk through the turn signal.  He did make the turn but left a red light for the rest of us.  He was too involved to hear the horns!

I've heard of texting, putting on makeup, eating, but reading a novel while driving - that's a new one for me Larry and I'd have been on my horn too - annoying and dangerous!

Larry,

I agree unless absolutely necessary I would never blow the horn.  Too much road rage out there.

What gets into people?  I can't imagine what book is so important that someone would read while driving?!

ugh... really??? I love my favorite chair for book reading and that chair is NOT a car.  At least she wasn't reading while driving

Like you, I try to exercise patience and like you, and maybe a few times more often, I fail. My horn would have been heard if she was too busy reading a book to drive her car!!

I too only use the horn if a car is about to hit me.  My husband on the other hand does not feel the same way I do.

All - probably as many variations in driving as there are drivers. I tend to keep my distance and watch for the unexpected. Where ever you are on the road, be careful, be safe.
