Brad Rachielles of Upland, California makes some good points about QR codes and the decision to use them or not to use them. They are free and take no more effort than adding a photo to your marketing piece so why not?
The QR Code Debate May be Over!
I subscribe to LinkedIn. In one of the Groups, there has been an ongoing debate about whether to use QR Codes or not. The "nay-sayers" say it's a fad. The supporters toute the benefits. This has been going on for months and months. There are OVER 650 comments. REALLY!?!?!?
IS THIS QR CODE DEBATE DEBATABLE?
With just a little common sense applied, I may have ended the debate, at least one of the following comments is suggesting"Brad Rachielles for PRESIDENT". Here are my comments:
Brad Rachielles • I'm very surprised that there seems to be a debate here. The nay-sayers are absolutely right! The supporters are absolutely right. If these don't support your marketing plan because you are in a community of mature clients, don't use them. If you are in a more techie community (like I am in CA.), use them if it supports your marketing plan. Both opinions are correct.... if it supports what you want.
BUT.... why, with such easy and cheap entry, would you not use a tool that would likely bring you more business? This isn't rocket science. Nobody has to spend tons of money on this to implement and time spent doing it is very minimal. Surveys say that 50% of the population will be using smart phones by the end of this year. One QR code creator has seen an increase in their QR codes issued by a factor of 24 fold in the last year.
It is interesting to note that the latest issue of "Better Homes and Gardens" had just two QR codes in the entire magazine. BUT, magazines catering to Gen Y and Gen X like one about youthful activities (don't remember if it was scuba or snowboarding) was said to have a QR Code in almost every ad.
Would appear to be very viable. Even if it should turn out to be a short term thing, if it brings business, by all means do it!"
Time will tell if the debate is over.
As for the Presidency..... NO WAY!
The QR Code Debate May be Over! We'll see.
