Olympia Traverse relay event is happening today - and the sun is shining for the participants (and us volunteers). The Traverse is a multi sports challenge which includes mountain biking, road biking, paddling in Budd Bay and running. The entire course is 50 miles long, and there are relay teams as well as individuals who will do the whole thing solo.
City Realty Inc is volunteering at the transition point where the road bikers finish their ride and get their kayaks, paddleboats etc into the water to paddle their way over to Swantown Marina.
Our transition point is at West Bay Park, and setting things up this morning we have already seen a very young deer running along thru the park as well as a whole gaggle of geese lounging in the grass, and some seagulls swooping overhead to check out the action.
The boats are now in place in the grass awaiting their turn in the event - and we are glad to be part of this cool event that is also a fundraiser for charities including Friends of Capitol Forest, South Puget Sound Salmon Enhancement Group, Surfrider Foundation - South Sound, People for Puget Sound, and Olympia Area Rowing.
We love the beauty of this area and this is a great event where people can enjoy that beauty as well as raise donations to keep it beautiful. So if you are in town today - come stop by West Bay Park and say hi and watch the fun!!!
