Wow My Office has issued a Mandate- Paperless by Sept. 1 !!!

By
Real Estate Agent with KW Elite

In February of this year (2011) the entire KELLER WILLIAMS system marched all 80,000 of it's agents to doing business completely PAPERLESS ! My office(which KW calls a Market Center) has issued an edict that effective 9/1/11, it will no longer accept any form of paper files to document a current and eventually settled transaction. We will be using the incredible DotLoop system, which includes electronic signatures to enact a completely paperless transaction !

The system includes an invite to the other(cooperating) agent for them and their client to also participate in this paperless transaction. It will automatically set up both the other agent and their client with electronic signatures ! All changes that are being negotiated will be updated immediately on the internet stored Agreement of Sale(avoiding multi copies). We will no longer need to use a fax machine for anything concerning our sales or listings !

Several companies in our marketplace have said they have this ability, but I've yet to see it ! It is my guess that less than 5% of the time the cooperating office will be ready to conduct business in this manner ! Folks once again the times they are a changin !!!

Michael, that is interesting!  I would love to go paperless, but some of my clients have had issues with Docusign. They either don't understand how to do it...OR they want to sign a hard copy, which is ok by me.  Whatever it takes to get the transaction done! Our RE/MAX office stores every "paper" related to a transaction on "paperless pipeline".  I love that!!  Easy record-keeping!

Michael - I am sure our Keller Williams office will be following suit "no more paper" and that really thrills me. My office sometimes seems indunated with paper and much of it unfiled - what a mess.

I am loving it. It is great. Requires some patience, a learning curve, but in the end is well worth it.

The Newport American Legion was struck by lightening recently. Everything electronic in the entire damn building got fried. All computers, cash registers, even the juke box---SHOT.

I do all my transactions and forms on the computer but I always have paper back up just in case.

Mike, great post and it's not only fun but exceedingly lucrative to be ground breaking and finding ways to incorporate our fellow cooperating brokers with the paperless transactions through education on a weekly basis.

This sounds like quite a goal.  Good luck!  We can all use a little less paper in our lives!

Michael, good for KW, but we have a small office and I am sure some of the agents would not be happy if we would go paperless. Heck some of them don't know too much about computers. :-)

School is never out for the Successful.

Using less paper and cutting down less trees as a by-product of it is a noble idea. Good luck.

Michael, It is wonderful, isn't it?  We haven't had an "edict" yet, but who knows? It may come!  We have our class on My Transactions soon, and I can't wait!  I have something I have to feed into it now and play with, cause something's ready to "pop" soon!  KW is AWESOME!!!

Perry, we're also leading the way.  Our company has been completely paperless for over 1 year!  We use DocuSign for e-signatures and we have a custom online office for transactions.  Kudos to KW for their paperless move!!

Paperless is great as long as there is back up off site. At my previous company they had no less than three off site back up locations that belonged to them exclusively. They did not trust the on-line services.
