Showing Homes in the Heat Today

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Leading Edge

It was around 100 out today in Maryland and I was showing houses all day long.  This is the type of day when Buyers (and agents) appreciate the occupied homes that have the air conditioning running.

It is also the type of day when we take notice how vacant, distressed properties sit through all conditions and changes of season.  Not that heat should hurt a vacant home.  However it made us look at them a lot quicker and get out as fast as possible compared to a comfortable showing environment.  Just the opposite is true in the winter months, but that's when we worry about pipes freezing, etc.

It will be nice to have the days of limited distressed sales back in the market at some point down the road....

I hear ya. It has been hot and muggy here in Florida. I love the cool breeze of fall.

I'm looking forward to those days also...the days when the REO homes are few and far between.

Chicago broke their 1871 record for rain and in the same week we hit 105 degrees.  Attempted something dumb while doing shows this week to stop all the brow sweating .. it worked but then the sweat came down the sides of my face like Niagara Falls.  It'll soon be over and then the Fall will be here.  Market is transitioning but think because of all the financing issues we will really have our work cut out for us as Realtors.

Hope your weather gets better.  Not nice when it is that hot!
