Carol- looks like fun. We used to go crabbing in the Galveton area when I was a kid. Love littleneck clams on the grill.
Okay, I am hooked. Between the vodka, beef and now clamming, I am putty in your hands.
We used to clam on the west coast. As a child, I would never eat them, but I did love catching them.
Those are crayfish. The crayfish I would eat for some reason. Who knows what goes through the minds of children?
Carol - Isn't it amazing how the simplest of gadgets can pay big dividends when you are doing something as fun as clamming. They can make all the difference in the world.
Sue -I had forgotten how fortunate it is to be more self-sufficient than store-dependent!
Terri - And, it was a restaurant quality meal for about an hour's worth of work.
Rob - It was cool, especially when you felt the "ping" of the clam on your rake!
Tony -It really was, and the cheapest meal I had on the island!
Suzanne - until your comment, I didn't realize how much it was an eating and drinking tour of Nantucket, but in retrospect, it was, and it was fun! I would love to still be up there!
Myrl - The rakes make it MUCH easier!
Carol, Clamming is a great way to spend a hot afternoon! I love to clam on Ocracoke Island, N.C..
Keith - it is as long as you get IN the water, and away from the buggy shoreline, I learned!
Russel - thanks for the photo!
Carol: This would have come in handy when I went clamming in Pismo Beach...many years ago!!!
Hi Carol,
There is something so satisfying about foraging for food from the ocean. Guess I've done my share on Cape Cod. Thank you!
Jane - I know! I was amazed at how evolved it has become!
John - You are most correct! It really was satisfying and fun! AND YUMMY!
I love clams...steamed, fried, casino...you name it! Great pictures!
