Sometimes it’s the little things that make the difference! Wildflowers in Chattahoochee Bend State Park.

Wildflowers in Chattahoochee Bend State Park.

Yesterday I went on a photography expedition to Chattahoochee Bend State Park. It’s Georgia’s newest state park, and it is located right here in Coweta County.

Since it has opened on July 1, I have made over a dozen trips to the park and I now know my way around, and I have a great feel for where I am.

What makes the exploration a little more interesting is that I knew this area BEFORE it was a park. And it has been a challenge to locate old landmarks relative to the new access and park roads.

But parks are not just about facilities and roads. It’s about the underlying reasons that the park was created in the first place. And once I had a firm grasp of the “big picture,” it was time to take a closer look.

As I wandered around a rock outcropping, I took notice of the “small” world of tiny wildflowers punctuated with fluttering skippers!

On a 97 degree day on a HOT rock, it would have been easy to miss the small wonder of the park in its most basic and natural form.

But fortunately, I was able to grab some shots before the heat addled my brain!

I am now making plans to document every wildflower in the park.

And that should keep me occupied for years!

Richard- The first photo looks as if the flowers are floating in air.  I'd say your photography expedition was a success.

Richard... Great photos of the small things there! A place I love here is Lincoln Falls going east up Interstate 90 to Snoqualmie Pass. There is so much grandeur, yet, what catches my eye are the little wild flowers growing in the shade of a fern in the shade stretching for the light beaming in through the forest canopy. Nice work.
