I was watching a news show this morning and the debate was heated. The panelists were discussing the Republican agenda vs. the Democrat agenda. Who is right? Who is wrong? Fingers were pointing in every direction and each side was sure that they were "winning".
Then one young man (I can't recall his name, but I know he was 33) made a great point. "In the last three elections" he said, "the American people have spoken." he went on to talk about how Tea Party movements and election results have recently proven that we are sick and tired of the same old crap that we get churned out of Washington.
Unfortunately, they still haven't gotten it right and we're up against an August 2 vote that will seriously impact the debt ceiling and the state of this country. Parties are still fighting with one another and pointing fingers too, but I don't think it's as grim as it sounds.
All we can do is deal with what is cast in front of us. When election time rolls around, I'll voice my opinion when I step behind the magic curtain. No need to do it around the water cooler or on the internet every day. Then I become just as guilty as the clowns in Washington who are more focused on winning their battles at the cost of the country losing the war.
So, is the system broken? I don't think so. The system is working just fine and the former politicians who find themselves changing their Washington addresses back to the home towns that they came from, can thank their own inability to get the job done at the expense of finger pointing to blame for it.
Wake up Washington, you are there to serve "the people". As my late grandmother would say, "I don't give a rats ass how the job gets done, as long as it gets done." When these guys wake up and realize that we don't care about their school yard brawls (like a scene right out of West Side Story), that all we are interested in is seeing politicians come together to effectively "lead" this country in the right direction, maybe then we can put the parites aside and celebrate something significant. Maybe then the American psyche will become more positive and things like the housing market will start to become more robust.
I'll have to look this young man up. I really liked his character and attitude. You know what, I don't even know if he was a Democrat or a Republican.
