Michele - the few times I tried drying pool towels on a line outside here in AZ, they dried alright - like they were starched!!!  I guess it's too dry out here sometimes!

And the pollution and allergens from the plants and dst and mold. I will  never forget the goodl old days. Give me a gas or electric dryer. The clothes are fluffier and softer too. Thanks for the nice photo.

Sorry Intero.  We live in the country and we use the clothesline..... a lot.  It makes the clothes smell fabulous with the fresh smell of grass and flowers.  Thank goodness I don't have allergies.

Funny, my parents still use it.  I didn't notice the hardness/crunchy feeling - I just thought it was normal.  I will never hang anything out to dry other than a blanket or such that takes too long in the dryer; and that's just to top it off :)

I grew up in Virginia and we always hung our clothes out on the line to dry.  It was humid, so we didn't have to be concern about over drying.  The clothes smelled fresh.  There was no pollution because I grew up on a peninsula.  Although humid, somehow I survived it.

New York is on my travel list.  I was born there, but I have not returned in over 35 years.  But I remember hanging the clothes out on the line and bringing them in, folding them and putting them in the drawers.  Everything smelled really fresh and clean.  Those were the simplier days.

Thank you for the picture.  It bought back fond memories.

Hi Michele, That's great!  I always enjoy seeing clothes being hung out to dry.  Yes nothing like the smell of towels and clothes with that distinct outdoor smell.  So refreshing!  I have fond memories of running between the sheets and towels as my mother was doing the laundry as a kid.

You know drying clothes on clothes lines are making a comeback as more people, younger people, are being more conscious of the environment.

When we take rides to the Lancaster area, this method of drying amongst the Amish.

Great photo!

We often dry our clothes using such a clothing line when we have many clothes. This is the easiest way to dry them up after a good wash.
