Anyone know what type of flowers these are?

I planted a little patch of flowers (bag said Hummingbird/Butterfly mix) about 6 weeks ago, and boy did they grow like weeds!  I don't really know what flowers in this patch the hummies would like, but I'm hoping to attract some butterflies.  Last year we had tons of butterflies, this year...not so much...wonder why...Even a keeper at a local butterfly garden on the news said there have not been as many butterflies as usual...Wonder if it's because of the extreme heat we've been having so far this summer...

OK OK, I'm done rambling...I never can seem to make my "Speechless Sunday" posts speechless.  :)

Hi Chanda,  I don't know what they are but they are really pretty flowers.  I have noticed very few bees as well.  This is concerning.  Have a nice evening.

The top one is a zinnia, and yes they are very easy to grow and will self seed.  Drought tolerant.

I believe the bottom one is called Cornflower.... hence the term cornflower blue.  But I may be mistaken.

Beautiful Chanda!  Here you are growing beautiful flowers and me ... I'm probably the only person on earth to kill a cactus!

I've noticed a butterfly and bee shortage too!  However, I saw a Swallowtail butterfly last week, that was at least 50% larger than any I remember.  It was a butterfly, which had obviously been taking steroids. . .LOL

Thanks Ralph.

Judith, there is definitely no shortage of bees or wasps here in Indy!

Georgina, thanks.  The Zinnia was beautiful when it first bloomed.  Unfortunately I didn't get around to taking a picture until it started getting a bit beat up on the petals.  The Japanese beetles are having a field day!

Lisa, trust me you are not alone...I have one living plant in my house which happens to be a cactus LOL...Everything else I've ever had indoors dies.  I've had this for a few months so we'll see if I can keep it with the living.  :)

LOL Myrl.  I've only seen a couple of Monarchs...other than that, it's been pretty barren this summer...

Thanks Elyse!

David, it's a pretty simple camera (Nikon Coolpix 12MP, 7x Zoom)...I'd love to get one that has more megapixels and a much better Optical zoom...

Thanks Chris.  I don't feel so bad now!  ;)  One day I'll learn to just post a picture without saying anything!
