Sales Tax Holiday in North Carolina August 5 ~7 2011

Tish, Glad to see you back!  Been watching the blog roll intently for that familiar blue sign to show up!  I don't think Ohio has any sales tax holidays, too bad, because tying it with back to school shopping makes perfect sense!

Oooooohh!  I am so excited!  I didn't think we had one of these days, but I just got a flier of when our date is.  I can't wait!  Enjoy a glorious day today Tish!

They do the same thing here in Pa. It really helps the local business community, and if you have been thinking about a large dollar purchase, that week would be the perfect time to do it

☂ Tish, thank you for the reminder!  I forget each year to keep an eye out for this.  We don't have school age kids BUT it does help in stocking up on office supplies!  I love the list you included.

Terrific idea.  Minnesota doesn't have enough money as it is, i.e., our State Shutdown over taxes and revenue. 

These events can really help familes who are watching their pennies.  Good way of getting the word out to your NC readers Tish.

When my kiddos were little, we always went to the outlet mall on this weekend and boy oh BOY could we make $100.00 go a long WAY! Each child had a $100.00 school clothes limit! Yep! And we did it! Managed to get new socks, undies, shoes AND clothes. (YES... this was a LONG time ago!) LOL

Always a great reminder for those back to school tax holidays.  Great time to support the local schools by buying extra supplies to donate.

Tish,  Thanks for the heads up.  They couldn't have planned it better. My husband will be out of town on a camping trip.  Perfect time for me to go shopping and see how much I can save.

Tish, no such luck here in Minnesota.  We were shut down for three weeks because we can't find any revenue while we lost millions in revenue during the height of tourist season.

And, I don't know if I offered condolences on losing your Mom, but consider that I have been praying for your healing and, I understand how devasting that loss is.

Tish welcome back. FYI most people do not realize how big of an incentive this is. Just to give you an example California has sales tax, so what Diane does, when she goes to Boston,MA (no sales tax) she shops for clothes

Tish - Glad to see you back.  I would always take advantage of the tax free shopping week when the kids were younger.  It's a great way to stretch the budget at a time when expenditures just keep growing.

I know the Virginia Governor's assistant press secretary. I need to email him and find out when our tax holiday is. We cannot be out done by NC I say!
