Thoughts on "another" Sunny Summer Day in Tucson
I learned two very interesting sunny facts this weekend I thought I'd share with you.
According the Guinness Book of World Records, Yuma, AZ (about 240 miles, or 4 hours WEST) is the sunniest place on earth. They have sunny skies for an average of 4,055 hours, out of 4,456 hours that are in every year.
So in other words, Yuma is sunny 91 percent of the time. Wow.
Then I was talking to my son in Seattle. He said he heard on the news that Seattle, WA has had only 78 MINUTES of summer this year. That according to their definition of summer, it's only been over 80 degrees, 78 minutes this year.
We quickly agreed that compared to the temps, with high humidity as well, the Midwest and East Coast have experienced this year, that 78 minutes is sort of a blessing.
But it is interesting how diverse our United States and weather patterns are.
After growing up in Washington State along drizzly, but beautiful Puget Sound - moving to Green Bay, WI area for another 23 years of extreme seasons and rolling farmland - I have to say I am enjoying the sunny, rocky mountain vistas here in Tucson, AZ.
I'm sure wherever one lives, a person can find their "sunny" points.
If you're moving to the Tucson area and would like pointers on the area, I'm happy to share. If you're looking for a new home in Tucson, Marana, Oro Valley, and Vail - call a REALTOR® who can help you find your own place in the Arizona sun to call home.
