Making those weekend plans?  Save your bridge toll and attend some of the West Bank events on tap for Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

West Bank shopping

The Oakwood Center Mall will be reopening Friday at 10:00 am.  Closed since Hurricane Katrina and the looting and fire that followed, the newly renovated mall will be open with over 80% of the retail spaces occupied.  I am thrilled to see more shopping return to the West Bank!  It's been too long...

Oyster FestivalSt. Cletus Oyster Festival   3600 Claire Ave. in Gretna

Friday 6-10 pm, Saturday noon-11 pm and Sunday noon to 10 pm.

The time for school fairs and festivals is winding down.  Don't miss one of your last opportunities to visit a local fall fair.  Local bands Southern Cross, Jake, The Chee Weez, Busta Brown and No Idea will be performing throughout the festival.  Food, music and fun, right here on the West Bank.

Haunted Fun House at Mardi Gras World   233 Newton St. in AlgiersHaunted Fun House

Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 pm - midnight

A family oriented haunted house... BOO!

I hope you have a great West Bank weekend!

Sally, I am SOOOOO ready for the mall to open!  Since the hurricane, we have had to drive about 15 miles to get to the closest mall and it has been packed 7 days a week.  My 16 year old doesn't have school tomorrow...we'll be there for the grand opening if she can wake up on time :)

Lisa, I would DEFINITELY be at that Oyster Festival, there would be no holding me back.  I'm sorry you had no shopping, it's not my favorite thing to do but I can't imagine no malls either.  Have fun with whatever you do!

Carole, I have a confession...don't tell anyone...I don't like oysters.  Yup, I said it!  I'm thinking that the mall reopening is a "must do" for a 16 year old :)  You have a great weekend too!
