Moving To Android From Palm - Any Advice?

By

I'm in the process of buying a new phone, and have decided (pretty much) on an Android.

I've had my Palm Pro for 2-3 years, and have noticed it has gotten glitchier as time goes on, sometimes just stalling when I'm trying to access the Supra eKey program to unlock a lockbox, and then I see how much technology, particularly touch screen, has advanced, and I realize it's time to move on from my Palm.

I'm curious as to anyone else who has done such a shift, and what advice they have for me in the switch process; I understand I will probably not be able to use Outlook anymore, so it's a bigger change than I had originally thought.

If anyone has any advice/tips/suggestions on this switch, I greatly appreciate it!

Carol, I'll be interested in seeing the responses.  I have the same issue, and I need to change phones.  I've been stuck between three different phones.  Just can't make up my mind, but I think my Palm is about to make it up for me.  Let's see what the brainiacs on AR have to say.

Carol, if you can and have a choice. . iPhone

Android (Evo) is what I have. I did not have a choice, my carrier does not have the iphone . . Still you will find the Android  to be superior to your palm and you will never look back.

Carol,

I have the EVO. Fantastic phone, however it does not support the supra e-key functions. Maybe do away with the palm and use an e-key transponder. For email you can set up the evo to also receive your outlook email and it will not interfear with outlook. Any responses will be on your phone, you can BCC to yourself for a copy to keep in your outlook if desired.

Make it a great day !!

Hi Carol, I had a palm for about 2 weeks back in 07, and I didn't like it. I had a blackberry until this year I have a Samsung Droid, and I love my phone, emails are fast, good applications that can help the business, great for internet, pictures, videos, etc. I think droids and i-phones are the way right now.

I used a Palm for years, and have had  a Droid for over a year. Now that they offer a fob for our ekeys I use that. A lot depends on WHICH Android phone you pick. Personally I LOVE my original Droid, and my son and husband now have a DroidX2 and like it very much. I really like the touch screen as opposed to the Palm ones.

Mike - same here, I want to make a change, but it's a BIG change apparently!

Fernando - Thanks! I think I'm going the Android route, just lookig for more input.

John - Thanks for the input; I confirmed my SupraEKey can be supported on Android with a fob...

Jose - I have loved Palm for years, but now have screen envy, and app envy....and my Palm has been getting glitchier and glitchier...

Leslie- Thanks so much! I really appreciate it, especially as you used Palm before too!

Great post Carol.  I am in the very same predicament!  I enjoyed reading this thread because I have a "Palm Pre" now, and I am strongly considering the Android.  I've only heard positive things about it!  Thanks for posting on this...

Lloyd - I have heard that; I'm just not a I-Advocate.......and, realizing I don't have an I-Tunes, or an I-anything leaves me to think I can go 100% Android....with a new tablet...

Temple- I have a Palm Pro, and it's just getting glitchier every day, and becoming unpredictable - may actually make purchase today!
