EDIT YOUR TITLES - or EAT CROW!

Take a look at a few of the words misused in the title of some posts that I have noticed Eat Crow

Byers - meant to write Buyers

Borker - meant to write Broker

Weather -- meant to write Whether

Oppurtunity - meant to write Opportunity

Their - meant to write There

Based on the subject of the posts and their intent, some bloggers seem to have a problem with word usage or like me, their mind is faster than their fingers.

Using the Spell Check Function on ActiveRain, DOES NOT SPELL CHECK YOUR TITLE.

Remember your audience. You are trying to reach potential clients or referral partners here, and their use of the language may be better than your ability to spell. The first thing they see is the title of your post. You only have one chance to make a first impression.  (Don't we tell Seller's this all the time!)

Hi Joy,

Or my phone has this annoying habit of misspelling words for me.

I am texting, and it decides what it thinks I want to say and puts the rest of the word in!

Hi Joy,

Reading the mis-spelled titles of articles can be a good source of morning humor, but I agree with what you are saying.

As you mentioned, the spell-checker does work on the title, but if you have doubts about your wording, copy/paste the title into the body of the article and check your spelling before posting. It only takes a couple of clicks and it may save you some embarrassment.

Have a GREAT day!

Hey Joy, I notice it all the time and even wrote a blog as well, but you know what, nobody cares.  It's a shame too.  Someone who does that tells me that either you are lazy or don't know much about grammar.  Who wants a realtor who is either?

It is unfortunate that AR does not SpellCheck titles - I've had e-mails and comments when my titles where INcorrect.

Joy,

Of course that is our first impression we can make on the potential clients. I agree that sometimes my fingers go faster than my brain and boy does that get me in trouble!

I sure wish spell heck worked on titles. Isn't that the most important place to spellcheck?

Guilty!  I start tapping away and the submit button is so appealing!  Sometimes reading what you've written, out loud, provides the insight and slows you down enough to find your errors.

Not checking your spelling or grammar usage is a HUGE mistake. What's even more annoying is the same things happen in the MLS.

Thank you all for responding to this post.  You are right Phil, my phone mispells things all the time and it is frustrating.  I was a homeschooler and so unlike Scott & Warren, I don't think it's funny!! :)  All of you are right - as professionals we need to be careful and more thoughtful about spelling and grammar.
