Will Google+ kill Posterous?

Will Google+ kill Posterous?   Google+ button

Maybe I ought to say will "Google+ replace Posterous?"

"Kill" sounds so violent.

Posterous says:

"Posterous is the easiest publishing platform around. If you can email, you can manage a website and share it with small groups or the world."

Posterous is pretty darn easy.  If I remember Posterous.  I forgot Posterous for weeks at a time. I mean I forget to send content to Posterous.  This morning (July 27, 2011) my Posterous subscriptions was one post from Susie Blackmon. It's OK.  Susie is on Google+ so I got my morning fix of horsing around with Susie.. without Posterous.   I have Susie in some Google+ circles.

Your Daily Posterous subscriptions

Who was not there on Posterous this morning?  Lots of people I subscribe to.  Everyone but Susie.  I don't subscribe to a huge number but I subscribe to a number of real estate people, some local people...

This is what Susie's Posterous looked like opened up today.  She is sharing a picture from a source in China.   Posterous works great for curating content you find on the Internet.  That is probably more what I see now than people using their posterous to write posts or to share their original photographs.  At least for those I subscribe to...  not much of that in my email this morning.

Susie Blackmon's Posterous Is Posterous dead?  I think I saw something about Posterous having technical difficulties earlier this week. Perhaps that is why I have nothing to read there.

Last time I posted on Posterous was Monday.  A photo I took Saturday on my cell phone. Not sure why I did not post that Saturday.  I posted something Sunday, a photo of the house I was holding open and before that it was Tuesday, a photo of the new sign on our new Worthington office (we are NOT moved in yet.)  :- (

"Will Google+ kill Posterous?"  is kind of like the question... Will Google+ replace ActiveRain? and it's companion  "ActiveRain is for Dummies.'

When was Posterous born?  2009?

When was Posterous the next shiny object? 2009?  I first heard about Posterous on ActiveRain.  My first exposure to Posterous was some whiny guy, whining about how ActiveRain was not as easy as Posterous. The second person I think I followed on Posterous was Joe Spake.

I remember Bobby Carroll talking about Posterous on a session at rebarcamp Columbus in 2009, I had one... a Posterous account I just kept forgetting to go back to it.

Nope it was whiney guy, then Jim Duncan, then Joe Spake that I heard about Posterous from. In  my second post on My Posterous, one of few posts with words, I post about the whiny guy, Jim and Joe.  Sadly lots of my old photos are missing on my Posterous.  That is not Posterous fault and I can put them back up.

I wish I could find the whiny guy. Or even remember who he was.  I would like to see if he is still an active member of Posterous.  Or ActiveRain? Or where he is active now.  Facebook? Google+ ?  Gave up?

Jim Duncan posted on Posterous today, I guess it was posted on Posterous after Posterous sent me my subscriptions, which was one post from Susie today, tomorrow there will be at least one post in my subscriptions.

Posterous

My Posterous is Columbus Life, photos of Columbus, Ohio.  A lot of times I use Posterous to get my photos to ColumbusBestBlog.com (my WordPress.org blog.)   Theoretically I can use my Posterous to get my content (mostly photos) to my Facebook (profile and pages), my Flickr account... maybe there is more.

Will Google+ kill Posterous? Or will Posterous add Google+ as a place I can send my content eaily?

Here's the bird on Columbus Life, my Posterous.. I posted it to my Facebook profile and my WordPress blog via Posterous.

What is Google+ ?

Just in case you have not heard, Google introduced Google+ about a month ago. The Google+ on my sidebar and at the bottom of this post are links to my Google+ profile.  Google+ is in Beta.  You still need an invite to join today.   Google+ is Google's new social network... Will Google+ replace Facebook was the first question, followed by will Google+ replace Twitter...  Will Google+ replace LinkedIn....

Maureen, I am curious to see what Google+ will bring in the future.  I just joined it via an invitation from a friend and I truly do not know how to use it yet.

It's real easy Jeana.  Much more intuitive than anything else.

Google+ may be the new "fad" but the measure of a good agent is to be as versatile as possible. I think you should use all sites including those that aren't being used as much.

Elise, I think it is good to know about things like Google+ and even things that have been around awhile like Posterous and to be versatile.  I think it may just be a fluke today with  Posterous.  I hope Posterous will set up feeds to Google+ in addition to Facebook, Flickr etc.

I posted this to Google+ as well and there are comments there from a bunch of people including Susie, lots of people in our industry who seldom comment here on on ActiveRain anymore.
