My son and I decided to check out the best pizza in the area.
He is nine years old...so pizza is his favorite food! I guess it would likely fit in the top ten of most favorite food lists :)
First we had some ground rules...no mass produced pizza (Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Little Ceasars, Dominos...we elimanted these because we figured they had zero chance of being the best).
Second we felt we should order a slice...or a large pizza only (a medium or a small pizza can tend to have a thicker crust).
Third...only thin crust pizza...the best deep dish is another blog post.
here is our decision on the top two places we found (from the 13 pizza restaurants we visited in the last 30 days...lol).
Bizzarro's: Indialantic, FL
The original Bizzarro's on the beach at 5th Ave in Indialantic is still the best. Large slices, hot ovens, great beach location and semi-rude New York pizza makers will have you feeling like you just left Little Italy. This place has pizza that can rival all but the best NYC pizza joints. FYI...all the Bizzarro's locations are good...but the Indialantic location is better!
Petrillo's, Indialantic, FL
Who would have thought after all the driving around both great pizza places would be in Indialantic by the Sea? Petrillo's is really a full service Italian restaurant that happens to serve great pizza. For those who have been around the area for a while the Bizzarro's Pizza was originally Petrillo's until they sold out in the early 90's. Great food....great Pizza...and 99 cent beer (full size mugs with Bud products) on Thursday nights make this a great place to go!
If you have not tried both...please do....and let me know what you think. I would love to know if you have a better choice.
