I Got a Check In The Mail Today...

OK...not a check- but close enough! I've been sent this blessing from above. Some operation called OneMain- which is the former CitiFinancial, according to what this meaningless literature I'm throwing away says.

Interest rate? What interest rate? I don't know what it is. It's probably 23%, 27% or something, but all I know is that I got a check in the mail today and it's party time. I might try to make some payments to OneMain..or TwoMain...(or whatever the heck their name is), but if times get tougher and I need that money for my smokes or to get my drank on- well, you know how it is.

Go bankrupt? Not yet, Hoss. Best Buy's got a sweet sale on 55" plasmas next month, and I have to get that bad boy before I go all Chapter 7 on somebody.

I'm still shocked I got a check in the mail today. I didn't ask for it...don't really need it, either. Times are tough already and I have more credit card debt than I want or should have- so cashing the check from whomever these folks are would only add to my debt- and that's never a good thing.

Dang. That was easy- no cashing this check thing and adding to my debt. So why is it so hard for our president to make the same decision for our country?

Our country has been writing checks we can't cash for a long time.  The republicans have a point, we have to cut costs, not keep spending forever.

Hi, Bryan:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  You are correct, indeed- and if things don't make sense for us to do in our daily lives, why would we expect them to be better on a bigger scale?  Every day, we make decisions and choices that we must live with later on.

But on both a personal and national level, we need to be reminded that choices have consequences.  If I really were to use my "check" from above, I'd put myself in a world of hurt later on.  It's nothing I need any of my White House economic experience to figure out- if I pile on more debt than I can sustain, I'm going to suffer later.

Same for the myriad of credit card applications.  If I were to open an account every time I got one, I'd be.....raising my personal debt ceiling, right?  Not a good idea for me- and on a grander scale a plan not good for America.

Hi, Sussie:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Yes, one of "those" checks.  I think I get 4 or 5 a day- or at least it seems that way.  And they all find their way to the same shredder...
