I’m writing about a new electrical outlet that would make the typical reader push the ‘next’ button.
But this product is the real deal and, I would be surprised if it weren’t found in most houses within the next few years. In fact, if I were an electrician today, I’d bring a box of them with me to every house or office for every service call, and offer them to customers while I was there. I think it would be like a guaranteed $100 extra for every house call. What is this magical device? Well, It isn’t magic. In fact, it so straightforward and ingenious it will make you kick yourself and say, “Why didn’t I think of that.”
OK, so I think you are now ready to see a photo. But, let me prepare you. You’ll start kicking and squirming wondering where you can order it. Well, before you do that, think of how many you want to order, and where you want to put them. I saw an article about them and ordered five. Then, I realized I’d have one in my kitchen, one in my bedroom, one in each of my daughter’s rooms and would want to have at my desk. Then, I’d want to have one at my front desk for my agents, clients and customers to use in cases of emergency. I’m talking about a very simple electrical outlet, that comes with two USB charging ports at the side. They can charge anything that works with a USB, without the need to plug it in. I-Pads, I-Pods, I-Phones, Droids, Blackberries and other phones are just the beginning. When you think about how many devices could use this, you’ll fall over. Here’s the photo:
Yes, it looks like a regular outlet and it just has a little addition. It can charge any two USB 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0 device, while not taking up an electrical outlet. Yes, it’s available in Decora. In fact, the more I think about the order I placed and am awaiting delivery on, the more I think it will be the only type of outlet out there in the future.
I started looking at it and thought, Jeez, everyone I know in real estate would kill for this. Then, I tried to buy it online and the web link wouldn’t work. So, I called the company. I talk to one of the marketing people for quite a while and said, “I’d write a blog about this, but the place I’d write the blog has almost ¼ million readers. You should offer them a discount.” In exchange Darlene asked, “What if everyone got expedited shipping for free?”
I said, “I don’t care, because you were nice enough to knock a few bucks off my bill (full disclosure – for telling her there was an operating glitch in their website and that I'd write a blog, and how much I loved the product I was given free shipping!!!!) However, I did suggest that she offer a discount to Realtors and others on Active Rain website and she agreed to provide free expedited shipping. So, learn about the product and realize it’s an awesome find. I read the NY Times and now realize that I missed the fact that David Pogue (probably the #1 tech writer in the US) voted this as one of the top 10 tech products of 2010!
Check out this website and, before you buy anything, read this below:
And this – from my 10 minute conversation with Darlene: “buyers must enter the word 'Realtor' in the
NOTE section of their order! The coupon area of the database knows how to apply discounts, but it
doesn't show the coupon name. So, in order to ensure expedited shipping to the customers, the word
‘Realtor’ must be in the note section.”
HAVE FUN. I FEEL LIKE STARTING A LOCAL BUSINESS - $50 FOR ONE INSTALLED, $40 FOR SECOND AND $35 FOR EACH ADDITIONAL ~~~ TOO BAD I’M NOT AN ELECTRICIAN. BUT, I assure you, my dad will have one next to his desk at his office and in his kitchen for his August 12th birthday – and he’ll be 82. If you are in Real Estate and don’t think this would be nice everywhere, you are lucky. You can do business without modern tech.
I can’t wait for my delivery. I’ll certainly let you know how the setup went and how my family full of devices will be enjoying their new plugs.
