Success happens by choice not by chance.

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty Northville Market Center

The past few days I have been reading a lot of AR blogs and I've been soaking up some great information from unselfish successful Realtors across the nation. Of course everyone has their own style of doing things coupled with vastly different markets but they all seem to do what works for them. Which allows me to take bits and pieces of their advice and mix it together for a killer real estate strategy.

I love the concept of being a Realtor and running your own business because you do not have to be anyone but yourself. If you like to wear suits all the time that's fine, if you wear jeans and a t shirt that's fine as well, it all boils down to if you can relate to your customer and get the job done. I myself like to wear slacks and button down shirt with the occasional tie but that's just me. What makes you stand out from the crowd? I am still searching to find what makes me different than the 1000's of other Realtors in Metro Detroit.

You have to be a chameleon and a shape shifter in the real estate industry because things always are changing. I am still a newbie as a Realtor but I am very observant and aware of my surroundings, always willing to learn. I stay in the "ready-set" position because I want to be one of Michigan's top Realtors and eventually in the top percentile nationwide. To achieve that I will need to bust my hump, network, build relationships and ultimately close deals. I cant sit back and wait for people to come knocking on my door, I have to go out and get them, I have to let them know that I am a Realtor and I want to help. I have to provide excellent service so they will tell their friends that Harry Smith is great at what he does. The best compliment is receiving a referral from a satisfied client.

I have strong faith in religion and the Lord and I know He wants the best for us but we have to work hard to show that we are ready to recieve His blessings, that we are ready to handle what He will give to us. When I pray, I don't ask the Lord to give me materialistic things. I ask that He gives me His knowledge, His wisdom, His guidance so that I can do and say the right things to spread His Word and achieve my professional and personal goals.

I don't know really know where I was exactly going with this blog but I felt the urge to type it. Maybe my words will help someone else in the same position as I, maybe it will help someone who has gotten stuck in a rut. I just hope this helps someone..

As I re-read my post I may have wrote this to help..... myself.. Hmm go fig.

You are already different from other REALTORS in your area.  Your writing style is clear spoken and your content obviously comes from the heart.  You will be noticed if you keep on this same path and make sure to post a lot of local news...make it available to the public!  I see you've discovered some groups to post in, don't forget the localism posts.

AR also offers the possibility of posting your listings - which gives you more exposure.  Get going - you already are expecting a busted hump ;-}

Harry, I agree with Mona; do lots of local stuff! Do you have a niche you specifically market, too? You had some great info about the historic homes, maybe you can expand on that?

It's hard to say how one stands out from the crowd honestly. A lot of agents just do because they have a far-reaching, multi-media-employing strategy.. or are just extremely passionate.

Thanks Karen!

Andrea... Good idea, I do need to focus on a specific market. I just may do historical homes, I need to do more homework!
