Here in sunny Long Beach, CA, the best thing to do during the day (go to the beach) is free. But many people don't know that there's lots of fun and free activities at night as well.
Here's a few possibilities:
Mondo Movies on the Beach - Mondo Celluloid is presenting free movies at 8 p.m. on Mondays this summer. Just look for the movie screen at Junipero below Ocean. Monday, August 1st "Woodstock" will be playing. August 8th will bring "Roller Boogie." August 15th, "Grease," and August 22nd "The Shining."
Other Fresh-Air Movies - Movies are also scheduled for other outdoor locations in Long Beach. Check the schedule at 100daysofsummer.org for what's playing near you.
Shakespeare in the Park - The Long Beach Shakespeare Company performs "Merry Wives of Windsor" outdoors in Bixby Park. Performances run Saturdays and Sundays in July, starting at 4:30 p.m. Free and open to all.
A Night at the Museum - The Long Beach Museum of Art is FREE every Thursday night from 5-8 p.m. Come see great exhibitions and stop by Claire's Restaurant for Happy Hour from 3-8 p.m. Enjoy $5 Beer and Wine and delicious appetizers and desserts at amazing prices. Watch the Port of Long Beach, Queen Mary and Thumb Islands light up after the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean.
