Private Lessons for Volleyball in Temecula, CA - 2011
Buying a home in Temecula puts you near one of the better volleyball clubs in Southern California, Viper Volleyball. In fact, many families from Murrieta and as far as Hemet take their children to this volleyball club because of the extensive range of teams, coaches and, most importantly, the range and height of the levels of instruction.
This club runs several levels of volleyball skills, including private lessons:
1. Elite - this is the highest level at any age. They meet three times per week and play one or two tournaments in Southern California per month, as well as trying to qualify for the highest level of competition by the end of the year, the Junior Olympics. For example, Viper's age 12 Elite team actually went to the Junior National Olympics in Florida this summer. Their coach gives private lessons in volleyball at the Rancho facility where Viper practices.
2. National - one level down from Elite, the National teams practice twice per week and travel once or twice per month to tournaments in Southern California.
3. Local - this level of instruction is once per week, and they play tournaments at the local Rancho sports complex where Viper practices.
4. Aces - the Aces program is an introductory program that involves basic skills preparation in volleyball.
5. Private Lessons - you schedule these at your own convenience with the coach of your choice.
Cost: of course, the cost correlates between the amount of instruction and level of play: less is less, and more is more. If joining a Viper team, as of the writing of this post, they do allow you to pay all up front, in return for a 5% discount.
As to private instruction, the Viper coaches are typically experienced at many levels of the game. They tend to charge $50 per hour for a private session. I found that the private sessions took our daughter up a large learning curve, turning her from a presence at the net into a Force that owned the net. Her team had a great coach as well, bringing the girls' level of play up from the National team they were to compete with and beat many Elite teams by the end of the season. But it was those private lessons that really put her over the top, so to speak.
If you'd like, you may send me an email for recommendations of coaches for private lessons for your child's position. Or, you may contact Kat at kat@vipervolleyball.org or 951-553-0858. Please let her know you found this blog? Thank you!
