Real Estate guru and founder of William Raveis Real Estate, Bill Raveis, speaks on the importance of local market housing data verses single national index indicators. For more take a look at what Bill Raveis has to say.

David, you are so right, the national stats do not represent  each individual market.

All real estate is local...Probably shouldn't admit this, but raveis.com is my go-to website for real estate searches and data as shown here.  There's a very good reason why it's an award-winner!

Yes, it certainly can be different - in different counties, towns, sections and even single family vs. condo vs. coop.  Real estate really is local.

David - real estate is local and sometimes hyper local ..... most things start at the grass roots level and in looking for news about the real estate recovery that is the right place to be looking.

Thanks for helping to make this a great month to be in real estate

David, I agree with you and Mr. Raveis - real estate is local, right down to the neighborhood, and the national news loves to focus on bad news - bad news sells, not neighborhood positive news.  I just wrote a post about the lack of news on the real estate recovery in different markets.

HI David,

Your New England and as such each neighbourhood and county all have their own local markets.

80+% of buyers and sellers move locally, and as such the rest of the nation really has very little impact on any local market.

Well there you have it, Active Rain members agree that real estate is hyper local and so much for negative news from the press. Thanks for all the comments and lets keep spreading the word, educate out clients and proceed one step at a time.
