Pay it Forward - Rescuing a Couple of New Agents
Yesterday I stopped by my KW office to pick up some printed materials that I needed, and I ran into two of our newer agents there. One of them had an emergency and had to leave her phone duty an hour early. She asked me if I would be able to complete that last hour of her shift. I told her to go ahead and take care of those issues that she needed to deal with, and that I would be glad to sit in that last hour for her.
At the end of phone duty shift, I was just about to leave when another new agent stated that she needed help entering her very first listing into the MLS. I volunteered to walk her through all the steps to get all the data entered into our Multi-Listing Service correctly. Granted, this may not seem like a big deal for many of us, but to this new agent, she was horrified that she would make a huge mistake entering the data and those photos too.
I first showed her how to move those photos that the photographer had sent her in an email to her desktop computer. Then, I showed her how to auto-populate her listing from the data on the Bexar County Tax Records. Finally, we went step by step entering all the required information into the MLS. Finally, I uploaded all of those images from the desktop into the MLS, and showed her how to arrange them in order and to also place a description under them. I also showed her how to copy and paste that virtual tour that the photographer sent her too. One day next week, I told her that I would also show her how to “Enhance her Listings” in Realtor.com since our office now has the Showcase version. Needless to say, she was thrilled to have someone take the time to walk her through all these steps. Paying it Forward by building confidence in new agents one step at a time.
Jerry, you are a gem of a person. I wish you lived here so you could work with me! Awesome.
That's a great act of kindness and generosity Jerry. Hopefully what goes around comes around.
You are one cool dude.......fabulous team player - that you are for sure!
Yes, Pamela. I know she was at ease that I was able to take her through all the steps, one at a time.
Yes, Anita. It's a challenge for many new agents just getting started and it's a comfort whenever an experienced agent will take the time to help.
Yes, Kathy. It's wonderful whenever an experience agent will mentor someone and take them under their wings. I know these two agents will be better agents themselves one day.
Thanks, Rebecca. I was just glad I was able to help them on a Saturday afternoon when no one else was available to assist them.
Thanks, Paula. Moving to Houston would be very tempting, since I do have a few friends in that area already.
Thanks, Al. I can only wish and hope that one day they will be able to return the favor to some other new agents too.
Thanks, Anna. I have always enjoyed being a Team Player, since my early football days.
☂Jerry, I've said it before and I'll say it again ~ you are such a gent! There's not many agents that would do what you did for these two. You took YOUR time to help someone else make money. Now being a firm believer in what goes around comes around, I look to hear about some VERY good deals coming YOUR way!
Pamela
You're so awesome Jerry. What a team player!
Thinking of you in Costa Rica!
How many of us wish we would have had someone like you to give us a helping hand in the beginning. Thanks for making someones day at the KW.
Hi Jerry--I doubt there is ever a moment in your life when you are not available to help someone. What a great person you are and a fine example for so many others walking this earth.
Thanks, Pamela. I look forward to sharing any good fortune that comes my way soon. I was just glad to help these two ladies out this weekend.
Thanks, Cathy, I can't wait to hear the News about your missionary trip to Costa Rica.
You are Welcome, Doug. I do enjoy helping others, and these two seem to really need some help that day.
Thanks, Janet. We all have our opportunities to reach out and help others. I was glad I was able to do so this weekend.
You are Welcome, Joanne. I wanted to wish you the BEST too on getting that Short Sale deal closed.
