AMERICA maintains its AAA RATING
It appears that the United Stated will maintain its good standing of a AAA Status in the world afterall. Now that the US Leadership has arrived at an agreement to ease the uncertainty that was sending shockwaves across the business world, it's time to begin the difficult task of legislating. It needs to pay attention to the priorities facing us. Let us not manufacture anymore crisis.
It's time to look at all issues. I am interested in hearing what the members of this community think some of our national priorities should be. I hav outlined some to begin with:
1. Reform the following - U.S Tax Code, All Trading Agreements, Election and Campaign Finance Laws. NAFTA for example has been an utter failure, it needs to go; We need to have term limits on all elected offices and get rid of the very generous defined pension plan for our elected officials. If they are considering getting rid of the 20 year military retirement plan, then certainly, congress should look at itself too.
2. Build America Buy America Initiative: The current status of General Motors demonstrates the wisdom in having the government partnering with key manufacturing elements within our country. The taxpayers now own 1/3 of GM and they have hired over 115,000 workers over the pasy 3 years. This is how the government can step in to help industry. Close all the loopholes that allow businesses to not pay taxes, ship jobs overseas, and to lobby congress to pass laws favoring their anti-consumers interests.
3. Look at the Medical Care and Delivery Stystem in this country. For all who boast that this is the best healthcare delivery system in the world, they are living in fantasy land. There is widespread fraud and corruption in this industry. It is time that Doctors be empowered to make medical decisions. It should never be left to insurance people. This system is broken. Lets get rid Medicare PART D and all the other corporate handouts and reform MEDICARE, MEDICAID, and SOCIAL SECURITY.
This is where I stand as an independent voter, who still believes in America. Where do you stand on the issues?
