Stained Glass Windows in St. Mere Eglise

This picture was taken in St. Mere Eglise in Normandy France. This was taken in the church where the paratrooper John Steele landed on and survived by pretending he was dead. This was made famous by the movie The Longest Day.

This picture is of the Virgin Mary with a child and the paratroopers landing around her and a fire below. This was designed by Paul Renaud who was 10 years old when the paratroopers landed in St. Mere Eglise. The stained glass was made by Gabriel Loire a famous stained glass maker.

This picture was taken in the same church this one is of St. Michael the patron saint of paratroopers. This was also made by the same artist as the 1st window. All of this information was received on our private tour in Normandy by Bertrand Saundrais. If you are going to go that way I highly recommend him to tour the area he has so much knowledge of the WWII and has passion for that era.

Yolanda, it's nice to see stained glass with a relatively contemporary theme. Those are beautiful.
