The Flooring Girl...
Yes, I bought TheFlooringGirl.com and just launched this site last week Check it out when you get a chance - it's a wordpress.org website with a blog. I still have a few areas to work out over the next week or two, but it's in pretty good shape and hopefully will be indexed by google soon.
So, let me explain the idea behind this. I meet a lot of people during the day, especially at networking events - local networking, BNI (and I sub in many mtgs), Women's Council of Realtors, etc. We all meet so many people, but it's hard to remember everyone and/or find their card when you need them. So many people lose those cards. My company name is challenging to remember (and even spell correctly) and there are plenty they I never get to meet...but they hear me give my 60 second.
But, while many may not remember my name or my company name months later (when they need me), they do remember the IDEA of me. Who's that flooring girl? They remember me because it's pretty unusual to see a woman who does flooring, esp one who owns the company. I'm pretty unique. Many of my customers love the idea of supposrting a woman owned business and they like dealing with a woman since they know I can advise them well and they can trust me...something that is very important for my line of business. It's funny because when I go to people's homes they'll sya "oh you're the flooring girl" (and they say this in an affectionate way.
So, I figured I would capitalize on this idea..and put it to use in my marketing.
This site has a blog (select the blog tab...I currently have 3 in there and will add some more soon). There are also regular web pages w/ info on the key types of lfooing and accompanying videos:

Of course, there are also forms to contact us (need to be improved), ability to download a free flooring guide and testimonials. There are also links for more info leading back to my main website.
I added Google +1 and Facebook Like buttons. So, if you like my site, pls check some of these boxes. On the home page, you have to scroll down to find the buttons, but they are on the top of all other pages. Would love if you can +1/like the home page, the hardwood page and one of the 3 blog posts.
As I mentioned above, this is really a marketing idea (not an SEO idea) to both make it easier for local customers who know/meet me to find me easily and to promote the positioning of my company. (but hopefully, I will get some SEO benefits as well).
Please let me know if you have any suggestions - either for the site or how to market the site. I think soon I will need to do a press release.
