Tennis Anyone?  Western & Southern Open at Mason's Lindner Family Tennis Center August 13-21 2011Lindner Family Tennis Center

If you love watching that fuzzy ball get whacked left to right and back again at speeds that'll give you whiplash, then THIS is the event for you!  The annual Western & Southern Open in Mason is coming up fast, and this is one of those mandatory stops on the big time tennis tours (ATP World Tour and WTA).  You get the top 10 men AND women at this one!  Unless they've got a signed doctor's note, those tennis stars and stars to be will be there for your entertainment (and of course trying to win the big money!).

Lindner Family Tennis CenterThis will be the first year that the men and women's tournaments will be held simultaneously, and the Lindner Family Tennis Center has spent $20 million upgrading the facility to handle the crowds!

Now ticket prices vary pretty significantly.  If you're hardcore and want to attend EVERY day, all 16 sessions, they've got ticket plans from $435 to $695 that include parking passes.

Another option is the mini plans, which include two days of four sessions, prices range from $148 to Finals Weekend for $275.Western & Southern Open trophy

Individual single session tickets cost anywhere from $10 during the early
qualifiers to $75 for the Finals.

And for the next few days, Groupon Cincinnati is offering a two for one price ticket for the 7 p.m. August 15th session, so $36 gets you two tickets.  Visit Groupon.com for the details.

And of course there's more going on than just tennis!  You can expect the usual vendor booths, and the food court offers more than just the typical fare.  In addition to local faves like Larosa's and Skyline, there's also tapas and Greek food!

The Lindner Family Tennis Center can be accessed from either the I-71 Western Row exit or the Kings Mill exit.

For more details on the event, visit the Western & Southern Open official website (click the link please).

Awesome that you took the time to write about local events. You are truly immersed in community happenings and just in bricks and mortar of houses and real estate.

Mike, We've tried to put a solid emphasis on community events over the last few months, along with the added P.S. section to remind them what we do for a living :)

Kym, I think the last tennis I attended in person was in Philadelphia back in 1987 or so when they had the indoor tennis tour :)  Lately we've been in peak busy season, so carving out the time to attend is looking kind of bleak.

Dave, We try to mix the local events, development posts (need to do more of these), with the general real estate topics to give people more reason to come to us vs. our competition.

First off, I picked up a few points just for visiting (reported spam) and commented. That's a good start for points. On tennis, My father was a pro and I still remember his serves (and others do too) which put fear in anyone on the court...pure tornado level 10's. Returning it was near impossible...thank you L & B

Richie, Those folks amaze me with they're ability to put such heat on the ball.  I guess last year a guy at the tourney clocked 148 mph??   How can you even begin to touch that?  Have never played anything beyond  barely hitting the ball, much less forehand, backhand, lobs or trying to place the ball :)

Bliz - great promotion of the event. I was just looking at Michael Chang's FB fan page about tennis. Big fan of his.

Hi Bill and Liz. I love that Two for the price of One Deal with Groupon Cincinnati. You certainly have a nice Tennis facility there, and that's great all the local residents who enjoy tennis. Great way to get the word in your Localism Post today.

Lisa and Bob, Mason is one of the Cincinnati suburbs and home to quite a few of the area recreational facilities.  Lots of golf courses, amusement parks, water parks, etc.  A great place to live!

Brenda, Yep, that weasel hit some of the features.  I've reported the profile to AR Staff and even tracked back through the comments and reported all 14 of them. I seriously dislike spammers.

Jerry, It's during the earlier qualifiers, so probably no Federer, Nadal or Serena or Venus at that session, but it'll still be great entertainment with that Groupon deal.  The site showed it available for 3 days too :)

Cheryl, After those balls have been pounded at 100 mph a bunch of times, bet there's not much spring left in them for Riley! :)

Bliz,

I am so jealous.  We are a big tennis family, but had just a little tournament here two weeks ago.

Hope it's a gloriious (and slightly cooler temperature outside) and that you get to enjoy a Groupon discount, too!

All the best, Michelle

Michelle, The way things have been lately, probably still in the 90s and humid!  Going for the area record tomorrow for most consecutive days at 90+.
