Imagine waking up and walking out on your terrace and seeing the lovely blue ocean, with a delightful salty air breeze blowing by. A lovely table and some lounge chairs outside can soon have you curled up with a book and it is like a permanent vacation. The apartment is on the 11th floor, 5825 Collins Avenue, 1260 2q. ft., 2 bathrooms, brand new (never used except appliances) kitchen, huge bedroom, den, closets galore.
Sometimes you might have your breakfast (in your brand new kitchen_ and go down the elevator, stroll past the magnificent pool and walk down the stairs to the beach. There are few people ever there, so you can walk along the water and visit with the seagulls, and an occasional ibyss. It is a good place to find yourself.
It is nice to collect the shells as most of the time they're all in tact, not like you see on public beaches. And as you leave the beach, there's a nice shower before you come up the steps. Now you are feeling totally relaxed.
This is the terrace on the 11th floor.
There are two bathrooms.
This is the magnificent lobby. If you walk though it...the elevators are there,
And there is an exercise room there as well.
The building is on 5825 Collins Avenue, Apt. 11J.
It is bigger than most, about 1260 square feet. Here is what my friend Michael says about it...
"important is that it is right on Miami Beach. You take an elevator down 11 floors, walk across the swimming pool deck, down a few stairs and there you are on the most famous beach in the world. And it's the best part of Miami Beach for the simple reason that there is no public parking within 10 blocks. You look out on the beach from your apartment and, on even the most glorious day, the only people out on the sand are your neighbors.
And you can look right out onto the beach from this apartment. Standing out on your balcony you look down to the pool and then lift your head a bit to see the beach and then the limitless ocean with ships on the horizon floating quietly on the Gulfstream.
The sun rises over that ocean and shines into your apartment all morning then, as the temperature rises all around Miami Beach, your apartment cools a bit because the building blocks the sun from hitting your balcony and your windows. The pool and beach stay sunny till late afternoon, you're in the shade.
It's delightfully quiet, too. Collins Avenue runs right in front of the apartment but you can't hear a thing because you're on the beach side.
A word about traffic and Collins Avenue. The building, 5825 Collins (but everyone calls it The Corinthian) is about equidistant from the access streets to two causeways over to the mainland. There's one at 43rd Street, Arthur Godfrey Avenue, and one at 71st Street. So you get less traffic than just about anywhere around here. South Beach with all its action is miles south of you and the shopping district, restaurant row and beach access of the neighborhood are many blocks north. There are no cross streets in this part of Miami Beach. The nearest is 44th Street to the South and 63rd Street to the North. You're in a quiet oasis here and it is easy to get to.
The apartment itself is a huge one bedroom with two complete bathrooms which is a rare luxury in a one bedroom apartment. The kitchen is huge; there's even a back door off it. The living room is a giant L. Twenty people for a party is a very small crowd in this room. Now that I think about it, my parents had three sofas, four armchairs, a dining room table with 6 chairs, a desk and chair set, a huge armoire, bookcases and occasional tables in this room and it still looked half empty.
The place has storage room you wouldn't believe: two walk in closets in the bedroom plus another closet, a large linen closet just outside the bathrooms, a walk in storage area (perfect for a freezer and lots of room for storage), another walk in closet off the "el" of the living room.
Since my mother passed away, not a week goes by that I don't get a phone call from her neighbors asking about her parking spot in the completely covered and secure garage. It faces the door into the building so it's an easy walk and you could park the largest SUV in the space. This is a huge plus in Miami Beach these days.
The building itself has amenities they don't put into condos anymore. There are several large rooms for gathering on the ground floor, a mezzanine with an office for building management and even a restaurant. All the common areas all over the building were redone just a couple of years ago. It's beautiful, modern and efficient. Even the elevators are new. They're quick and quiet. And of course there's the pool with its wide deck and dozens of lounge chairs and umbrellas.
The building staff - doormen, managers, parking attendants - are all wonderful. They're pleasant and they look forward to helping the owners.
If you're looking for a great one bedroom, and you are either happy with its current duckling condition - which is fine, - or you want to fix it up to be the swan of your own tastes, you really should see this place. The price is right and I will listen to any reasonable offer. So, if you know someone who wants the very best value on the Beach...please let them know about this amazing apartment.
