Recycling Guidelines for Town of Gilbert, AZ

Before we get into theRecycling Guidelines for Town of Gilbert, AZ, what exactly is Recycling.  Wikipedia defines recycling as:

  • processing used materials (waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production.  Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" waste hierarchy.

COLLECTION

For collection of recyclinRecycling Guidelines for Town of Gilbert, AZg, place your BLUE container on the street, nearest the curb, with the wheels facing your home and snug up against the curb.  Containers must be located at least 6 feet away from vehicles, mailboxes, or any other objects that might be an obstruction to the truck picking up the containers.  If there are two or more containers next to each other, please seperate them by 6 feet.  When possible, please park your vehicles off the street on collection days.  Refer to the charts below for your scheduled Recycling Pick up day.

Zone 1: Thursday

Zone 2: Wednesday

Zone 3: Friday

Zone 4: Tuesday

Zone 5: Monday

CLEAN, DRY AND EMPTY

The Town of Gilbert would like for all the materials that you place into your BLUE recycling container to be “relatively” clean, dry, and empty.  “Relatively” clean means that you need to rinse out jars, cans, and plastic containers.  Dry means that you need to empty all liquids from any bottles or containers that you intend to recycle.  Empty is exactly that, please make sure that all boxes, cans, bottles, containers, and etc. are empty of other materials.

I'm a recycling freak. I recycle everything I can. I feel I should leave the Earth a little cleaner that it was lft for me. I'm happy that America is more concious of the importance of it for ourworld.

For sure Robert.

Me too Rich.  We recycle, compost, garden, donate clothing, ride the bikes to schools instead of drive when it is not 100+, and that kind of stuff.
