New? Useful? How to spend your time on the web…

I was just going through my notes from CDPE class and thought I would share this.  The instructor was awesome and had a great trick for getting us all back into our seats on time – he offered up useful websites!  So here they are – maybe some are useful – maybe not – but if you need some surfing content when you have a few minutes to spare (or are waiting for your oil change) check them out.

  • unhearit.com :  site plays a song to get a song out of your head
  • issue.com :  publish your ezine for free
  • online-convert.com :  converts any video/media/doc files for free
  • rewordio.us :  domain name picker
  • workflowy.com :  online list maker (claims to organize your brain!)
  • allconnect.com :  sets up all your utility bills
  • wufoo.com :  online form builder
  • supercook.com :  you can input the ingredients you have in the house and it generates recipes to cook from what you have
  • weebly.com :  free websites
  • spoofcard.com :  online phone calls but you get to pick what phone number is displayed
  • joinme.com :  free site for webinars
  • guro.com : copyrighting site
  • snagit.com :  screen capture site
  • jing.com :  screen capture/video capture site
  • and a few of my own favorites:
  • tripit.com :  combines the data from several different travel sites into one and includes the weather
  • thehousedirectory.com :  searches over 3.500 different websites for home furnishings
  • smart-kit.com :  online collection of puzzles, games and brain teasers
  • seatwave.com :  the craig’s list of concert and event tickets

ENJOY!  Let me know your favorites!

Thanks for sharing. I'm only familiar with a few on the list - Snagit software has been a staple of my software library for years. It is updated at least once a year and gets better and better. I use it many times every day. It captures everything, allows editing, and outputs in just about every format.

Amy, there are so many web sites out there to choose from.  We just don't know where they are.  This is a great list to try out. Thanks

You are welcome!  I thought it was great way to keep us all coming back into the room on time too - good idea for managing time schedules during presentations with a large group.

My favorite is the workflowy - VERY easy to share with others that might not be on your same platform (outlook vs gmail etc)
