Do Not Call List

Thanks to the Federal Trade Commission's Do Not Call Registry, 150 million Americans have enjoyed far fewer unwanted sales calls over the last few years. It hasn't been perfect, but progress has clearly been made due to this important program.

But, just when you thought it was safe to eat dinner with your family, the telemarketers may be back in your life for good when your 5-year Do Not Call Registration expires in June 2008.

The good news is, you can always re-register for another five years, and continue to enjoy the peace and quiet. Simply call 1-888-382-1222 or visit http://www.donotcall.gov/ to register any or all of your home and cell phone numbers. Don't forget. Telemarketing companies are counting on millions of Americans to drop the ball. Don't be one of them.

I make a ton of cold calls. Only about once a month does anyone comment on being on the list. There was only one who was actually upset. As a consumer, I'm glad I no longer receive the calls.

Kevin-I can tell tht my phone calls have increased in the last two weeks. I make a lot of cold calls also and have run into the same types of people. Thanks for stopping by and blogging.

I had an agent tell me less than 30 days ago that he makes all his calls and figures it this way...for the one guy who busts him and fines him 15,000...he can make it up on one deal...WOW...there's using your....head.

I hate making cold calls but of course in this market you have to make a choice. I still have that little voice at the back of my mind remining me how I hate to get them...so much so I'm on the DO NO CALL list. Thanks for reminding me to reregister.

Shannon/Lynnette Thanks for stopping by. I know alot of people who make cold calls are effective with this list. However, I know that we all hate to be bothered with calls while eating dinner or that special time with the kids and spouse.
