Last week I got a phone call from a business that said they were looking for a Realtor to work with foreclosed homes. But my phone has been acting up and I didn't even know they called. I got the voice mail a couple days later. When I finally found out they called, I made a mental not to call back. Welp, I forgot. My fault. I didn't want to call back a week later to look like a jerk calling only when I have time..

So, I got the call again yesterday. YES! I returned the phone call right away and they said they were from US HUD. I admitted I never heard of them.

They said they were looking for EXCLUSIVE AGENTS for my area. I was like.. Oh yeah.. I'll fax the rep agreement. But they weren't going that way. He explained the info when I realized, it was a service.  Cranberry Sauce!! Now I knew what was coming.

"Is this a service you offer?"

"Yes"

"Like a membership?"

He gave a canned response.

"How much does it cost?"

"We can waive the set up fee and it will be a monthly fee of $199.00/month"

"Umm... yeah! Not so much. But I thank you for calling"

So, this is just a notice to anyone that might get a voice mail from someone saying they need EXCLUSIVE AGENTS. It may not be as cool as it seems....

In the beginning of my carrer I would open all kinds of emails looking for exclusive agents. I soon realized nothing is free. I no longer open any that start with: "looking for a realtor".

I hate when I get these calls, they like to lie to people to get them interested.

Popozao = Portugese slang for a girl frim Rio with a huge butt. I did not know you speak Portuguese.

Once I am clearly being solicited I usually ask "You realize that this number is on the do not call registry, right?" That usually not only stops that call, but any follow ups.

So frustrating to get all these solicitations lately.  I always tell them that I'm on the Do No Call List as well and then they tell me, Well we got your info from your website.  I said if you are calling to  buy or sell a home then great otherwise remove me from your list.

I hate these calls and now I just don't respond at all. I need real, viable clients on the other end of my phone...plain and simple.

Hello Eric-

Good post!  I believe we are all being "spammed" by these people.  I delete any e-mail that says something along the line of "looking for Agents" from an unknown e-mail address.  After all, I am sure if we Agents had a referral for another Agent, we would clearly identify ourselves as working for a reputable licensed Broker that has a quality referral.

Hey Eric,

Interesting post, lol. I wanna know who ya talked to from my company. The new guys are funny to listen to sometimes on this end, then I get to read about them on here. Anywho, my apologies to those of you getting hit multiple times after asking not to be called again. I will do my best to update the do not call list for anyone I may encounter who is not interested.
